Israel's King - Our Head

The following is brought to you by TruthTimeRadio.com.
A listener writes, someone recently said that Christ is the King of the Church.
They used a verse in 1 Timothy chapter 6.
Can you help me to understand why Paul used the word, King?
I didn't think Christ was the King of the Church, so please help me to understand why Paul used this word.
Okay, let's see here.
The verse you're talking about is 1 Timothy chapter 6 verse 15, Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
So here we see Paul describing the Lord as King, because he is.
But Jesus Christ is not King of the Church, the body of Christ.
He came to earth as, and I quote, King of the Jews.
And it says so in Matthew chapter 2 verse 2 and chapter 27 verse 29.
Those four words are in succession, King of the Jews.
And nowhere in your Bible will you find the words King of the Gentiles.
Here in 1 Timothy chapter 6, he simply calls him King of kings.
Why?
Because he is.
But that's not King over the body of Christ.
The only way you can make it say that is to read into and twist what the Bible actually says.
We're very frankly and candidly told that he's our head, Ephesians 1:22, chapter 4 verse 14.
And if that's not enough, we see it again in Colossians 1:18 and chapter 2 verse 10.
The Bible says he's the head of the body, the church who is the beginning, the first born from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence, Colossians 1:18.
The Bible says ye are complete in him which is the head of all principality and power,
Colossians 2:10.
That's pretty straightforward and clear.
You know, I've noticed a let down within the body of Christ.
It appears that some are willing to make some changes and say some things that will maybe help them better fit in with others.
Maybe they're wanting more Twitter followers or Facebook likes, or maybe they're wanting more warm bodies in the pew.
Let's continue to stand for truth.
Not wavering for anyone.
Let's be precise and present these clear divisions that make the Bible easier to understand.
Don't confuse things by joining what God has separated.
Hey, we've got unsaved people who mix their works with God's grace and believe they can lose their salvation that they don't even have.
Teaching the Bible is serious business.
So with precision, let's be clear.
Now, Christ is the head of the church just as we're told in Ephesians 1:22.
He's the head of the church just as we're told in Ephesians 4:14.
He's the head of the church as we're told in Colossians 1:18.
And he's the head as we're told in Colossians 2:10.
Listen, if you want to continue to see lost souls mix their faith with works for their salvation, keep telling them that Christ is their King.
Yeah, you see you can walk away from a king, but you can't walk away from your head.
You can walk away from a king, but you cannot walk away from your head.
Misidentifying the position of Christ over the church can lead someone into wrong thinking.
Wrong thinking leads to faith in wrong information.
And faith in wrong information leaves individuals thinking they're saved when they're not.
And you know Satan's getting the glory for that.
So thank you for the question, but I'm not sure why anyone would tell you that Christ is King over the church.
But if they plan on communicating to others what is the most important message ever known to mankind, they need to get it right.
In Romans chapter 6 verse 22 we're told that we've been made free from sin and been given
everlasting life.
Question for those who teach a works salvation, those of you who think you can lose your salvation.
How does everlasting life not last?
Galatians 4:16, Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?
