God's Voice or Your Voice?

There are those who claim that God speaks to them in a still small voice.
You've heard this. We all have. Most who make this claim were taught this doctrine, not by God's word, but by some preacher, some TV ministry perhaps. Or maybe they read it there in 1 Kings, read about Elijah there in chapter 19. He heard the still small voice of God, but hey, they fail, these people who push this, they fail to tell you that, well, first of all, Elijah was a prophet, a prophet who, at the time, was given God-inspired messages to write down. You've got to remember, hey, there was no such thing as a Bible then. Yeah, you see, they leave that part out. The Bible wasn't complete. It had yet to be compiled and put together. Elijah had to hear from God outside of his written word because he didn't have his written word.

In the days of Elijah, there was no such thing as the Bible. Anyway, today, there is no one hearing the still small voice of God. What they're most likely hearing is themselves. If you're hearing a voice within you, you're hearing you. Now that inner voice of yours, it may give you a Godly answer. A Godly response to a question, something you've wondered about because you've equipped yourself with God's Word.
It's in you. Therefore, your response is intelligized because it's from God. It's a response that has come from studying your Bible, studying His Word. Remember, study to show yourself approved unto God. God would have you to study. Well, you've been studying His Word maybe even daily like those of Berea, like they did. You've been searching the Scriptures and then something comes up in your life and you hear
a voice from within which is your own and that voice may come from, may be based on
the Word of God.

But it's not God audibly speaking to you at that time, at that moment. He's not speaking to you outside of His Word, His written Word. He's not speaking to you in a still small voice or a roaring thunderous voice and not through someone else who claims that they've been given a Word from the Lord. To suggest that would be to suggest that God's Word is not sufficient. No, He's not in the audible still small voice in your head. That's you. And if it's come from you studying God's Word, from you having His Word in you, instilled in you, then that's great, but it's not God speaking any new thing to you. God has, listen, God is not speaking, He has spoken in His Word. Don't be caught up waiting to hear from God when you've already heard from Him. This sort of nonsense is nothing short of Satan's attack on God's Word. Something he's been doing since the Garden, remember, when he calls to Eve to question and go outside of God's Word. Going outside of God's Word is what got us in this mess. Eve knew exactly what God said. He said it to her directly, just as He does us in His Bible.

But then, just as Satan did thousands of years ago, here comes some fancy sounding preacher or some so-called godly person that you know, some prophet comes along that, you know, he's got to tell you something that God forgot to put in his Bible, something God left out. He's got to come along and tell it to you, so there you are, naive and gullible, primed for that very moment to hear these lies he's getting ready to pour on you. They come along and whisper some good sounding words to you, words that supposedly God told them to tell you, and there you go. Just like Eve in the Garden, you decide to let that override what God tells you in His Word. All these exterior things religion has you chasing, looking and searching to find God, looking to hear from God, are not God at all.

You and your angel visits you've supposedly had, your books you've read about trips to heaven and trips to hell, or as Jimmy Swaggart claims, God spoke to him at age 8 while standing in line at a movie theater. We have access to everything we need to know written down on the pages, and it's absolute, there's no guessing needed. If Brother Joe tells you something at church that God supposedly told him to tell you,
you have to think about that. You have to weigh it out, you have to guess, I wonder if that's true, did Brother Joe really hear from the Lord? Is that really a message from God to me? No, go to His Word, no guessing needed. It's absolute truth and you don't have to wonder about it.

All these external means of communication with God are absurd, and they're nothing but distractions. The world is filled with distractions, and this is just another one. People have and are still making millions off the backs of the gullible, writing books about one nutty experience after another, distractions to get you out of God's book and into theirs. God's already written every message you could ever need in His book, yet you decided to look elsewhere. God didn't supernaturally take you there, no, you went there on your own and then blame it on God if something goes wrong. You're looking outward, but your answers are inward, in God's Word. You're not Elijah, you're not Moses or Job, you can go out back and throw some gas on a bush, light it on fire if you want to, but God's not going to speak to you.
He won't speak to you like He did Moses. You've got something Moses didn't have, the Bible, God's completed written Word, far more information than Moses had.

Stand in the midst of a whirlwind like the prophet Elijah if you want to, maybe you prefer a whirlpool, I don't know, but it won't make a bit of difference. God's not there. Stop searching everywhere and get in His Word. Some say, but that's how He spoke to Job. Hey, Job didn't have the Bible either. There was no such thing. You can go into your closet and listen for the still small voice, go stand on the top of a mountain, fast for 21 days, or go spend a bunch of money to go to a sweat lodge seeking to get some further message from God and His will for your life. You can kneel down and pray by your bedside like Jesse Duplantis who claims that when he did so, he was visited by an angel. Some people will believe anything, you know that.

What did Paul tell Timothy about hearing the Word of God? He said it's in the Scriptures that are able to make thee wise. All Scripture is what? Given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished
unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16. So you keep on waiting to hear the voice of God if you want to, I'll stick with the Scriptures. You keep listening to brother or sister, whatchamacallit, as they stand up in church and give you a special word of knowledge, and in the meantime, I'll stay right here in these sound words written down right here in this book. All Scripture given by inspiration of God, so that we can be perfect. Are you seeing this?

If Scripture can make you perfect, complete, what more is there? What are you waiting on? It's the lazy minded who don't want to put in the work, and 2 Timothy 2:15 studied to show themselves approved. It is them that make the claim that God is speaking to us today in every which way but in His Word. They're too lazy to study.
Today we hear people who are obsessed with talking about the Holy Ghost, yet they don't go where the Holy Ghost is. He is the single author of God's Word. Keep talking about Him if you want to, but you'll never get to know the Holy Ghost apart from His Word. No way. Right there in that book you ignore the Holy Spirit of God on every page.

No one's hearing from God today. God's not speaking. He's spoken. It's finished.
According to Colossians 1:25, it's fulfilled, fulfilled. When something is fulfilled, it's filled up. Nothing more can be added. Brother Joe, Sister Louise, no one can add anything to it. God doesn't need to speak. We just need to read what He's already spoken. 2 Timothy 2:15, study and rightly divide the Word of Truth. Makes all the difference.
