Bible Key Words and Meanings A-Z: "Blood"

Hi! This is brother Scott with another Truth Time, Look in the Book!
Today is part 5 in my series, “Bible Key Words and Meanings A to Z.”
We continue with the letter “B.”
The word today is:

Blood

In the Old Testament, sacrifices using the blood of bulls, goats, and fowl during elaborate rituals per God’s instructions was required for an atonement that resulted in immediate, but temporary, forgiveness of Israel’s sin.
Aren’t we glad that is not required today!
Why not?
Because of the blood of Christ on the cross, his death, burial, and resurrection.
The world’s trespasses were paid for by the blood of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
(Colossians 1:14 KJV)
(14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

(2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV)
(21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Forgiveness was earned by the blood of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and it's your
faith in that fact that will save you.
Christ’s shed blood is what made the following good news possible:
(Romans 3:25 KJV)
(25) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

(Romans 5:8-9 KJV)
(8) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(9) Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

(2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV) (Notice this is past tense)
(19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

(Ephesians 2:2, 13 KJV)
(2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
(13) But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

(Colossians 1:19-20 KJV)
(19) For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
(20) And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

(Colossians 2:13 KJV)
(13) And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Some will use the following verses to claim we are not forgiven until we believe in the gospel:
(Ephesians 1:12-13 KJV)
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

When you read those verses, there is nothing about the benefits of the blood only being
applicable to those who first trust the gospel.
Sins being forgiven includes the shedding of blood, not your belief, and it happened
a couple of thousand years ago.
It’s the blood, not our belief.
We are not to conflate forgiveness with salvation.
Beware of those who are teaching this trust in your belief for forgiveness, instead of
teaching trusting in his blood for having forgiven you.
His bloodshed came first.
His bloodshed and your belief don't even occur at the same time.
Two totally different calendar dates.

Forgiveness happened 2,000 years ago.
Salvation happens upon us believing and trusting in the gospel that saves today in
1 Corinthians 15:1-4.

It took bloodshed from a perfect sacrifice.
Christ was the final blood sacrifice, the final blood offering for the world's sins.
Fortunately for us, we came along on the other side of the cross, after he shed His blood for all sins.
Amen! Hallelujah!
