Acts 2: Fire & The Holy Ghost

There are those today who believe just about anything they hear.
And then we have another group.
They like to add to what they hear.
They conducted a poll among a few thousand Beverly Hillbillies fans.
The Beverly Hillbillies, the 1960s television series.
Well, they asked the question, what did the Beverly Hillbillies find that made them millionaires?
And they were surprised at just how many people, when they answered, they said they found gold.
Now this poll was conducted among avid fans of the show, mind you.
No, the Beverly Hillbillies struck oil, not gold.
You see, it was called gold, black gold to be exact.
It was also called Texas tea.
But what they struck, what made the Beverly Hillbillies rich, was oil.
Uncle Jed struck oil while he was out hunting with his dog Duke, a fact that is extremely hard to miss.
The beginning of every episode showed that very thing.
And there's even a catchy little song that plays at the beginning of each show that says that.
So it shows it and it says it, but still people miss it.
It not only passes through the eye gate, it passes through the ear gate as well.
Every single episode.
A large portion of the population needs their ears cleaned out.
They don't listen very well.
And once they get something in their head, even if it's wrong, they start to believe
it.
Even start to repeat it.
That's how misinformation spreads.
Now, it's not that big of a deal when we're talking about a Hollywood television show, the Beverly Hillbillies, but this also happens with the word of God.
Now that's serious.
In my lifetime, I've heard one false doctrine after the other coming from the mouth of those who claim to know the word of God, where they'll take God's plain words on the page, twist them until they lose shape.
So it fits with what they believe, fits within their denominational structure.
What a joke.
Reminds me of those who make the false claim about Acts chapter two.
They claim that just like those who were gathered there in the upper room, just like
they did, they too have had an experience where they felt the Holy Ghost wind.
No you didn't.
It's impossible to feel something that doesn't exist.
What they miss is no one who was there in the upper room.
No one, now listen, no one felt anything.
This is how men twist scripture.
That's how rumors, misinformation, false doctrine, that's how it gets started.
And then it spreads like a California wildfire.
Acts 2:2 plainly says, look it up for yourselves, it says, And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
See what they've done?
A sound from heaven, a sound from heaven as, there was no wind.
No wind anywhere, no wind to be found.
It was a sound of a wind, but not a wind.
A sound as of a rushing mighty wind.
What filled the house?
A sound.
Not hard.
There was no wind anywhere.
Just men that stand behind the pulpit who really needs to take some time, go in a room, close the door, turn off all their gadgets, and reread God's word.
Men behind the pulpit telling a big fat lie.
Wake up, go read your Bible for a change.
But this is what happens, we should expect nothing less, this is what happens when you're led by your emotions, led by your tradition, instead of God's word of truth.
That's what happens when you're led by mama said, daddy said, preacher said, when you
allow their word to outweigh God's word.
And these preachers go on to make the same mistake with the next verse, verse 3, Acts chapter 2 verse 3, here it says, And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it set upon each of them.
No matter how many times they grabbed the microphone and screamed, fire, fire, fire,
there was no fire.
No, it was like fire, which means it wasn't fire.
The Holy Ghost is not fire.
The Holy Ghost is a person, the single author of this book that you're misrepresenting, of this book that you're twisting.
This fire, fire, fire was created in the imagination of men.
What we need is re-education.
It's more about that than education, it's re-education.
Most everyone has a level of education, but that's not always a good thing.
Education can be dangerous.
No, we need re-education.
We need an overhaul.
If you've grown up believing some of this, you need to reform your thinking.
It's never too late.
I once told a man this truth, I shared it with him, and he got a little upset because
I called him out on it and corrected him with God's word.
Well, wha, wha, wha, wipe his nose and change his diaper, that's life.
Put away childish things and move on.
People say they want to hear the truth, but what they really want to hear is their version of the truth.
Truth is hard to accept when you were raised on rotten religion for so long.
Some were given a vaccine that caused them to have built up antibodies to the truth,
making them immune to it.
That's why they reject it.
We got to focus on the facts, and not the emotions of the matter.
For some it's about tradition, it's all they've ever known, led by the denominational system.
If my denomination says it's true, it's true.
For others it's about a career.
Preaching has become nothing more than their job, more about the size of their home, their bank account, and what kind of car they drive.
Hey, my advice to you, you who are really sincere, you're sincerely seeking truth, it'll begin to reveal itself to you when you decide to turn off the self-appointed theologians, the so-called scholars, and get alone with God and His word.
From there you can search the scriptures for yourself, like those of Berea did, who
they searched the scriptures daily to test if what they were hearing, to see if it was true or not.
They were not yes-men who sit on the pew and just nod an amen, raise their hand and praise God, thank you Jesus.
No, they tested that man behind the pulpit.
That's what the Bible instructs you to do.
And you who do not, you're rebelling against God's holy word right here on the pages.
Watch out for those who are claiming all these supernatural encounters, you know, the ones that are operating outside of God's word, because His word is not good enough.
It's not complete without their own personal experiences being added.
They are not hearing God's voice.
God's not giving them dreams.
And yes, I've read about those dreams in the book of Acts.
So what?
But you've taken it out of context.
Many times people come to God's word with their own preconceived prejudice ideas and
then they go grab the scriptures to support those ideas, even if they have to rip them from their context.
That's not the pathway to truth.
That's the pathway to destruction.
Their faith is based on emotionalism and experiences, and that can be extremely dangerous.
That sort of thinking comes from a quicksand foundation.
Hey, beware of the feels-so-good movement.
It's classic Charismania twistianity, and the congregation who sit there week after
week hearing this nonsense are the ones who suffer.
Don't break a bird's wings and then tell it to fly.
We've got those that'll go to church to disrupt the service and then say the reason they did so is because of the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost told me to.
I was overtaken by the Holy Spirit.
Hey, the Holy Ghost had nothing to do with that.
Stop blaming Him for your foolishness.
Let's trust the word, not your emotions.
First Corinthians chapter 14 verse 40.
First Corinthians 14:40, for all those who go to church and are overtaken by their emotions and blame it on the Holy Ghost, let's see what God's word has to say about it.
First Corinthians 14:40, Let all things, how many?
All things.
Some things?
No.
All things be done decently and what?
In order.
Is a church to have an order to it?
Well, yes, it is.
If it's part of the all things, it is.
If you're attending a church where this foolishness has taken place, you're attending, according to God's word, you're attending an indecent church that is out of order.
God said to be done decently and in order.
Being led by the flesh, led by your emotions and not the Holy Spirit, well, that's not decent and it's out of order.
The Holy Spirit is the one that authored this book, the Bible, God's word.
And He said, let all things be done decently and in order.
And two verses earlier said, but if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
So for those who will turn a blind eye to this clear teaching today, so be it.
Remain ignorant.
Remain ignorant if you want to, but stop blaming the Holy Spirit for your ignorance.
Truth is truth.
Just read it and believe it.
Follow the trail of evidence.
Hey, you can't even get a parking ticket without some actual factual things having occurred, without evidence.
Yet we have those today who believe certain things about their faith that are based on nothing more than their feelings, personal experiences and passed down traditions.
Well, I believe, I heard, I felt like.
They live off experiences, feelings, and regurgitated doctrines of men.
They follow after man-made denominational viewpoints and some worship the so-called
church fathers.
How about what thus saith the Lord?
How about what does the word of truth rightly divided say about what you believe in practice?
We read let all things be done in decency and order.
We also read if any man be ignorant, hey, let him remain ignorant.
And here in verse 37, look at it, watch, we see if any man think himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
Did you hear what Paul told you?
These things Paul wrote, all this that the church by and large rejects today, these are the commandments straight from the Lord.
You want to follow the commandments?
You better get in the epistles of Paul.
These are the commandments of the Lord.
Read it, believe it.
But they avoid these instructions.
For number's sake, they're willing to turn a blind eye.
More kumbaya, let's all just hold hands and get along.
Hot tub Christianity.
The problem is that some have a cult-like loyalty and have been so steeped in tradition they're almost unreachable.
Truth Time Radio, here to help you deconstruct that fleshly based religion of emotions you've been sucked into.
This time you unlearn some things, reeducate yourself.
I've had listeners over the years tell me, oh what a great communicator they think I am.
To that I say first, thanks, I appreciate that, but in reality, to borrow from the words
of former president Ronald Reagan, I'm not that great of a communicator, but I communicate great things.
See, this grace message that the Lord Jesus gave to the apostle Paul is the greatest message ever known to mankind.
