Listener: Is it Calvinism to preach like some falsely do, like Steven Anderson, that once a homosexual is found to be a reprobate, in Roman's 1, that they have lost their "free will" to get saved, it being to late, they are damned? Is this Calvinism, as in "Total Depravity"?
TTR: Yes. Calvinists believe that a reprobate is predestined to hell because they are not one of the chosen -- the elect.
They do not rightly divide the word of truth and ignore verses like 1 Timothy 2:3-4. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Under the grace administration it is God's "will" for "all men to be saved". So obviously he is not going against his will and cursing anyone to hell. Each individual that hears Paul's gospel has the opportunity to freely believe it or freely reject it. God does not remove someone's free-will. (including homosexuals)
Romans 1 is addressing those who heard the truth, (vs. 18-19) and with their free will rejected it.
In addition, when we slow down and pay close attention to the words being used in this chapter, we see that Paul is given a HISTORY lesson.
"their foolish heart was" not is.
"who changed" not is changing.
"God gave them over" not still giving.
And btw, someone should ask Mr Anderson, what about "back biting" and those that are "disobedient to parents"? (vs. 30)
Why is it only about homosexuals?
